If you’re travelling along the Great Alpine Road, there’s a little place called Wiseleigh. It’s a little bit before Bruthen and home to the temperate rainforest, Fairy Dell.
It’s a flora and fauna reserve managed by Parks Victoria, and a place we regularly enjoy.
Spectacular all year around, we especially love spring time when the fungi and orchids are in full glory.
We love going to Bruthen Bakery for a sausage roll or pecan pie!
- Drop toilet
- Designated fire areas
- Picnic tables
- No overnight camping
- Circular walking track through temperate rainforest and eucalypt forest

How to get there
To get to Fairy Dell from the Bairnsdale area, take the Great Alpine Road to Wiseleigh, approximately 2.3kms west of Bruthen.
Turn left onto Deep Creek Road and follow the road (mostly unsealed but suitable for 2 wheel drive vehicles) for 5.4kms.
A right hand turn takes you into Fairy Dell Flora Reserve, which is signposted.
