Deep in a beautiful valley, where the limestone is abundant and the river meanders across the landscape, is a town called Buchan. Famous for its fertile land, caves, rodeo, picnic races and a crowdfunded hotel, we think it’s a #BuchanAwesome place to visit.
After relocating and setting up Eco Eagle II at the Buchan Caves Reserve, we decided to make a list of things to do in Buchan. You can learn more about this beautiful place here.

5 things to do in Buchan
Buy a book from the General Store and have a coffee at Callemondah Cafe.
Chill out in the pool at the Caves Reserve, listen out for the lyrebirds, watch the lace monitors crawl up a tree or enjoy an adventure talk with the rangers
Tour the Caves! Having recently been to Waitomo Caves in New Zealand, the Royal and Fairy Caves are equally as spectacular. And the guides are very entertaining and knowledgeable.
Go for a walk along one of the many tracks around the Caves Reserve: Moon Hill Walk, Spring Creek Walk, Caves Reserve Track, Granite Pools Walk or FJ Wilson interpreted walk.
Visit the Bluff on Buchan River for a picnic or take a lilo and float down the river.
